Covid 19
The COVID 19 epidemic has had a profound financial impact on LTC facilities and the Closed Door Pharmacies that provide pharmaceuticals for their residents. These providers are forced to confront the challenge of reduced revenues, coupled with increased expenses.
To address this financial challenge, it is critical that Close Door Pharmacies reduce their operational expenses. One substantial, but the manageable expense, is related to the order fulfillment and delivery of “not previously prescribed medicines.”
To assist Closed Door Pharmacies in the effort to reduce cost, Cost Control Solutions offers its Analytics and Acute Inventory Management System for the management of medicines in remote locations such as EKits and ADM units. The goal of both is to reduce operational expenses while improving resident care and safety.
ANALYTICS
The Management of Not Previously Prescribed Medicines
A significant challenge for Closed-Door Pharmacies is providing “not previously prescribed medicines” to residents in their client LTC facilities. These medicines were not included in the resident’s regiment of prescribed medicines, and thus, must be provided via the Closed Door Pharmacy’s EKits or ADMs, and if not available in either, through the costly STAT or Back-Up fulfillment process.
To address the challenge of reducing STAT and Back-Up fulfillment, Cost Control Solutions offers its Analytics and Acute Inventory Management System.
The purpose of the Analytics is to identify the optimum contents of EKits and ADMs through historical data of medicines, resulting in the identification of medicines as:
- Dispensed,
- Not dispensed,
- Quantities of those dispensed,
- Medicines and quantities proved through STAT or Back-Up fulfillment
The following are sample reports from the analytics of Closed Door Pharmacy activities related to the delivery of “not previously prescribed medicines.” All Reports are specific to:
- Pharmacy
- Serviced Facilities
- Medicine description, strength, and quantit

AIMS Reformulation
Allows Pharmacy Directors to reformulate the contents of EKits and ADMs by identifying medicine usage from these remote devices and medicine fulfillment through STAT and Back Up. This enables Pharmacy Director to quickly reformulate the contents . . . deleting, adding or changing quantities of medicines to better reflect the fulfillment needs based on historical data.
Inventory Valuation – Provides the cumulative product inventory in EKits and ADMs by Division, Pharmacy and Facility, medicines and quantities. Inventory valuation calculated by weighted average or current acquisition costs. Reduces administrative labor while improving inventory accuracy and valuation.
Identifying product and their quantities will facilitate the ability to adjust inventory levels to reduce the cost of goods
